from the famous movie. that's my husband, james, and i'm cynthia daddona. and together, we're known as the goddess and the greek. the goddess and the greek. goddess and the geek.

goddess and the greek. and the greek, here in crete. come along with us on a romantic culinary travel journey the craddle of minoan civilization. starting with a drier, hotter east end of the island… my minoan. …to the greener, milder west end. everything is so lively.

look at these beautiful tavernas to dine in. you can go shopping. families are out. it's just a really wonderful time. it feels like you're in saint-tropez or another wonderful riviera city. [speaking greek] bougatsa all the way! watch as we eat everything in sight.

we're going to go to the kitchen and check out the horta, which is the basis for the mediterranean diet and can contribute to a long life. from villager foods made the old-fashioned way we're making stuffed grape leaves. this is amazing. koroneiki is the olive oil mill.

[laughing] greek fast food at its finest. we'll explore the seafood eat food style of greek tavernas, find seafood so fresh it jumps onto your plate. mm. if you eat like a cretan you will live longer. and taste gourmet greek food. this is the way to romance the table. from posh hotels

that's seasonal, of course. massage with your sweetheart. to wineries to agritourism. behind me is the chania food market. this is a fantastic place where you can get cheese, olive oil, and fresh, fresh fish. these are truly the staples of a mediterranean diet. and, of course, we'll dance it all off across the island. and swim the deepest seas.

under the beautiful skies, dining on cretan cuisine. it's everything i believe in. well, almost. can i get some water? raki. uh-oh. wow. (laughing) fire water. [distorted laughter]

[bell ringing] you hear all the sounds of nature. there are olive trees. and it's so delicious to see how people are living in the natural rhythms of life and living off of the wealth of the land. i am in heaven! (traditional greek music ends trailer)
